Claire Elise Boucher,/bu:'SeI/boo-SHAY,[1] was born March 17, 1988. She is known as Grimes. The early work of her has been classified as "lo-fi R&B to futuristic dance-pop",[4and influenced by electronic, hip-hop, and rock. She often uses science fiction as well as feminist themes in her songs. Five albums have come out. Born and raised in Vancouver (later shifting to Montreal), Grimes began releasing music independently from the mid-2000s onwards she released two albums: Geidi Primes and Halfaxa which were released in 2010, via Arbutus Records. After that, she became a member of 4AD and became a household name when she released their third studio album Visions, in 2012. Visions contains the singles "Genesis", and "Oblivion" which was recognized with the Juno Award in Canada for Electronic Album of the year. Art Angels, her fourth studio album, debuted in 2015. Many publications considered it one of the greatest albums. [6] Her fifth studio album, Miss Anthropocene, was out in 2020. Grimes is also a judge for Alter Ego, a music contest.
